The emaciated dog “cried” from hunger: like other Spanish galgos, she no longer needed her master

Once, a caring person discovered an emaciated dog that was literally “crying” from hunger. She looked like a walking skeleton, and it was clear that the animal had not eaten for a long time.
Luckily, the person who found her contacted Tina Solera, a dog rescue woman. A resident of Murcia (Spain) immediately arrived at the indicated place and saw with her own eyes what the caller told her about.

In front of Tina sat a Spanish galgo (greyhound). When the woman saw her, she understood everything – they simply got rid of the pet, as they get rid of most representatives of this breed. The fate of galgo is very sad. The Spaniards breed them for seasonal hare hunting, and at the end, some owners simply throw them out into the street or kill these animals, as they become unnecessary. The best age to use such a dog is from 8 months to 2 years, after which the dog “retires” and often has a tragic end.

Knowing all this, Tina, who herself is from Britain but lives in Murcia, opened a Spanish galgo rescue center. She tries to prevent poor animals from dying, so she saves them from imminent disaster. That day, Tina took Matilda (that was the name of the found dog) with her. The unfortunate dog was covered with ticks and fleas, and such fear was read in all her behavior that she even tried to bite her savior. The dog even had to wear a muzzle. However, the woman understood that this was not internal aggression, but a manifestation of fear and distrust, because Matilda had experienced a lot of grief.

“I’ve never heard a dog ‘cry’ like that!” the woman later recalled. “It felt like she was in a lot of pain!”
Fortunately, the examination by the veterinarian showed that the animal is quite healthy. Despite her exhausted body, Matilda showed no signs of serious illness.

Taking the animal in, Tina did her best to help the dog recover. A little time passed, and the pet gained weight and cheered up. Soon the woman decided that it was possible to find her owners, and such people were found.
True, they were surprised by Tina’s words that a dog can be timid and shy. A brave and quite happy pet came to their house, for which we should thank her savior, who helped her learn to trust people again!

Now Matilda’s name is Dizzy, and she lives in a family with caring owners. The dog is quite happy, and now nothing makes her “cry”.
As for the situation as a whole, it would be fair if there was a law that protects the right of the Spanish galgo to life and punishes the cruel treatment of representatives of this breed!
