Nikki Martinez is a longtime animal rescue volunteer. She also collaborates with other volunteers who trap and neuter stray animals to reduce their population. This time, Nikki was waiting for a very responsible, albeit not the most pleasant, mission – she had to rescue a kitten from a dirty hatch…
That day, the volunteer was with her partner named Leslie. They were looking for homeless animals when Leslie heard a plaintive meow. In a moment, it became clear that the “weeping” was coming from the hatch leading to the storm sewer, and Nikki dared to climb inside to get it.
Putting on her gloves and overcoming her disgust at the sight of insects running through the sewer pipe, Nikki climbed after the baby. It’s good that the little one desperately called for help: it helped the woman to orient herself and go straight to the kitten’s call!
What he saw made the volunteer very upset. There were three purrs, but two of them did not have the strength to withstand the situation in which they found themselves. There was only one baby left who survived, no matter what.
It soon became clear that the kitten has a mother – a wild cat, which appeared a little later. Leslie and Nikki were very happy about her appearance, because the little rescued kitty really needed her mother.
To make the purr family feel comfortable and calm, Nikki took them to her place. She arranged for the cat and her “daughter” a quiet room in which they felt safe.
Soon, Sue’s mother and her “daughter” named Tiny Leslie fully adapted to the new conditions. The cat began to take care of the baby, give her milk and lick her fur.
And a little later, Little Leslie opened her eyes and saw both her mother and the cozy atmosphere in which she found herself. Thanks to her mother’s care, as well as the help of volunteers, the baby literally “bloomed”. She began to gain weight, turning into a cheerful and happy kitten.
Well, it remains to wish this “girl” happiness and admire her ability to survive, because she helped herself by “calling” people for help!
