In winter, we found a dog that could barely walk, and a month later she unexpectedly gave birth to puppies

A thin black dog was walking along the landing with difficulty. I felt very sorry for the animal and after talking with Alexander. A volunteer friend of mine, we decided that we would help him.

Our volunteers went to pick up the dog. The dog was frightened of people and hid in a ravine filled with debris and branches. The girls could not get close to the animal, so they called the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The rescuers could not help, but after a while our volunteers still managed to catch the dog. The animal was immediately taken to the veterinarian.

The examination did not bring comforting news, and the doctors’ forecasts were not encouraging: there were serious fears that the dog would not be able to walk. We treated our new ward and hoped with all our might that our efforts would bring results. We had nowhere to place Zara, so we arranged a place for her in a small shed.

The dog spent all his time on a warm bed, gradually she got used to people and began to trust them. We began to suspect that she was not accidentally near the forest plantation, and also that her injuries were the result of an insult inflicted by a person. The treatment helped and Zara began to walk again, now it is almost imperceptible on her that until recently she could hardly rearrange her paws.

The news that Sasha told me was an absolute surprise for me:

– Inna, just imagine, I go into the shed in the morning, and there is Zara! Sasha literally screamed with emotion.

“So she’s been living there for a month now, you should check your memory,” I said, trying to understand what was happening.

This is where all the fun was taken away from me.

– I do not understand. She didn’t have a belly, so we also did an ultrasound, but they didn’t say anything at the clinic.

– I myself got confused, but I think that they were simply not noticed on the ultrasound. They are very tiny, usually newborn puppies are much larger. I was frightened, but not at all by the fact that we had more than a few wards, but by how the treatment that Zara received would affect her children. Judging by the size of the puppies, and they were even smaller than the kittens that were just born, the treatment had a negative effect on them.

Unfortunately, we were right. Zara gave birth to 6 babies, but three of them left in the very first days. Three crumbs turned out to be stronger, mother-dog constantly shook over them, fed and nursed them. All the kids had health problems, we tried to help, selected the optimal menu for them, gave vitamins. One of the puppies was treated in a veterinary clinic, fortunately, the doctors were able to help him, and we soon found a family for him. The puppies are already three months old, but they are still smaller and weaker than puppies of this age.
