The lake was empty, because in such severe frosts, even notorious lovers of sitting by the water with a fishing rod preferred to stay at home, especially since there were New Year holidays and people preferred to spend them at home with their families.
Anton was glad that he was alone on the lake, because he could choose the best area for himself and go fishing without being distracted by extraneous sounds. Having chosen a place for himself, he began to prepare a fishing rod and bait.
In addition to Anton, there was only a dog by the lake. big and shaggy. She went out onto the ice, and then stopped, starting to examine Anton. Barely looking at the dog, the man realized that he had been living on the street for quite a long time.
The animal decided to approach the man, and to show its good intentions, the dog accompanied each movement with friendly tail wagging. From her behavior, Anton realized that she once lived with people, she had owners and a house. If the dog were wild, at the sight of a man, he would immediately rush to run.
The dog sat down on the ice nearby and carefully followed every movement of the man. When another fish came across the bait, the dog was very happy, as if he himself was a lover of good fishing.
From home, the man took a couple of sandwiches, which he shared with his new companion. The dog happily ate the food offered to him, and then carefully sniffed the thermos, but he didn’t like the smell of hot tea at all.
When Anton was getting ready to go back to the city, the dog closely followed his every movement, and when the man went to the car, the animal followed him. By the car, the dog was waiting, showing with all his appearance that he was going to climb inside as soon as the doors were opened in front of him. Anton was at a loss, because he did not plan to get a dog, and even more so, to bring home an adult dog, whom he met by chance.
Anton quickly got into the car and drove off, but the dog did not plan to give up so quickly, so he rushed after the car. The dog struggled through the snow lying on the side of the road, but did everything possible not to lose sight of the car.
Anton carefully looked at the road, trying not to notice the dog, which stubbornly continued its pursuit. The dog was thin and weak, it was clear that the chase was taking away his last strength. The man could not continue to ignore the dog, so he slowed down.
When the man arrived home, the whole family was waiting for him outside. The wife and children made a snowman and waited for their dad to return to show what they had done.
– Was it a good bite? the wife asked.
“There were almost no fish, but I brought a big animal in the forest, look,” after these words, Anton let a big dog out of the car into the yard, which immediately began to wag its tail in a friendly manner.
A week later, the whole family agreed that the dog should be left. The dog was named Karas and visited a doctor who found nothing more serious than underweight, which can be corrected with good nutrition. Karas studied the new house in a few days, he showed himself to be a wonderful guard. It also turned out that the dog loves children, he is happy to play with them and even rides on his back.
