It was an ordinary quiet evening and nothing said that very soon there would be one more pet in our house. After dinner, my husband and I put the children to bed, and ourselves, taking the dog, went for a walk. Usually I walk the dog myself, but it was Friday evening, there are a lot of drunk people on the streets at this time, so my husband decided to take a walk with me. In Jeskoy I walk three times a day, we often go for a walk to the field, where she can run around without a leash. During the day, the dog and I walk almost 10 kilometers, this gives the dog a feeling of freedom, and allows me to escape from household chores.
For my husband, such long walks are unusual, so during the walk we paused so that my husband could sit on the bench at the entrance while the dog began to run along the lake.
Suddenly, a meow was heard nearby. The sound was like a very small animal crying. We listened to the squeak for about twenty minutes, after which the husband could not stand it and went to look for the one who was crying so plaintively. That a squeak is heard on one of the balconies, or perhaps the baby is just stuck on a tree branch and will soon cope with his problem without us.
The husband looked around, including the trees, but the kitten was nowhere to be seen, and the meowing became more and more hoarse, probably the baby completely lost his voice.
We started calling Jessie, but she didn’t come running. For our dog, this behavior is not typical at all, usually she comes at the first call, but then she continued to ignore even our cry.
We saw Jessie when she was already out of the reeds, carrying something in her teeth. When we commanded the dog to “spit”, this command of ours, which is well known to her, she lowered something to the ground that very much resembled either a kitten or a rat.
Upon closer inspection, it turned out that it was still a kitten, although it weighed 100 grams at most. As soon as my husband’s hand was next to the baby, he immediately began to climb up it.
At that moment, I realized that this kitten would become our new pet, because we could not leave him on the street, hungry and helpless. We could not determine whether we will have a cat or a cat, the animal is still too small.
The children were happy with the new addition to the family, because they love cats very much, and I took care of all the worries associated with the baby. Perhaps we were not going to acquire another pet, but it was impossible to pass by the crumbs in trouble.
