The hero of this story is an asphalt paver driver. While working on the road, he noticed an extremely thin dog on the side of the road, which could hardly stand on its feet. The man decided not to ignore the unfortunate animal and contacted the animal rescue service.
Very soon, volunteers arrived at the indicated place and took the animal to the shelter. The dog was very weak and exhausted, it did not even react to the appearance of people nearby, on the way to the shelter it seemed that the animal simply did not have the strength to notice and comprehend what was happening to him. Volunteers named their new ward Gracie.
It is impossible to say why the dog ended up by the road in an extreme degree of exhaustion, but the volunteers have their own assumptions. Most likely, they tried to make a hunting dog out of Gracie, but by her nature the girl turned out to be so friendly that she could not fulfill some of the commands. Realizing that the animal was not suitable for hunting, the man simply drove him out of the house, not thinking about what it would be like on the street.
At the first weigh-in, the doctors were amazed. The dog weighed only 8 kg, which for its size and age is far beyond the boundary line. The results of the tests were also disappointing: Gracie suffered from parasites, but it was impossible to start treatment, because due to exhaustion, it could only worsen the condition of the animal. In order for Gracie to recover faster, one of the shelter staff took her to his home for overexposure. A few days later, the man realized that the dog was depressed.
Thanks to the help of volunteers, Gracie was able to overcome not only her health problems, but also depression. She gained weight, became energetic, loved to communicate with people. This is a kind and cheerful dog that is waiting for its family, where they will take care of it, and it will respond to people with its boundless love.
For a week, Gracie refused food and even water, she just lay at the door and was not interested in anything around. During the week, she only got up a few times and walked around the room, but without being interested in anything, she returned to her place. It took a lot of time and patience to show the dog that he would not be hurt or harmed.
Gracie gradually began to eat and gain weight. Over time, she began to walk outside, accompanied by her guardian, and then even showed interest in toys. When the dog’s weight was a little closer to normal, they began to treat it.
