My morning started with a call: Inna, hello. My friends gave me your phone number, – a male voice sounded in the receiver, it was clear that my interlocutor was already aged.

– I’m from Kharkov, not so long ago I arrived in Kursk. To be honest, I still don’t understand how it turned out to be alive. Can you imagine what is happening there, and with me is a dog, he is already 13 years old, he was very afraid, – the voice in the receiver sounded excited. “Maybe you know who is looking for a watchman with a dog. We would like to settle down with him at least somewhere.
During the conversation, I learned the story of a man and his dog in more detail …

When the house they lived in was destroyed, Alexander Vasilievich, that is the name of my interlocutor, realized that it was dangerous to stay, he took Boriska, his 13-year-old dog, and together they went by car towards Kursk. The road was dangerous, the man admits that he was afraid all the time while he was driving, but he simply had no other choice. Heading to a foreign city, he hoped that people would help him find housing for the first time, draw up documents, and there he would look for work.

When they arrived at the place, it turned out that they really could help, but only to Alexander Vasilyevich, but not to Boriska. The man was offered to check into a hotel for refugees, but they immediately said that Boriska would not be allowed to go there. The administration could turn a blind eye to a small animal, but they did not want to see a large dog in their hotel.

The man did not leave his friend on the street, with whom they lived together for many years, who was there for such a long and dangerous journey. Boriska for Alexander Vasilyevich is his whole family, and they don’t leave their relatives on the street. Before retiring, the man worked as a firefighter, helped people, and now he has lost everything and found himself in the position of someone who needs help.
The first month, Alexander Vasilievich, who is 68, and his dog, who is already 13, lived on the street, spending the night in an old six, on which they left Kharkov. The man has no acquaintances in the city, the money he took with him also came to an end.

Due to heart problems, a man needs medicine, but there is nothing to buy them for. Alexander Vasilievich is only allowed to eat at the hotel, where he is also given warm porridge for Boriska, since there is no money for food for the dog. There are no warm clothes either, and the temperature is getting lower. Alexander Vasilievich did not ask me for help, he simply told me what happened to him and asked if I knew where he and Boriska could find a job that would help them pay for their accommodation. The promised payment was never received. “We agree to any job, to any conditions, we just need a little place where it will be warm and we can sleep,” the man told me.
It was clear that it was inconvenient for Alexander Vasilievich to ask an outsider for something, he was too modest and well-mannered for this, but anxiety for an old friend made him find and dial my number.
