When I wrote this text, I cried. I can’t understand how a man could do this to this dog, betray him. I was faithful to you, loved you, but you just threw me away. This question appears in the eyes of the animal every time it looks at the windows of the house, which until recently was its home as well.
As it turned out, the owners of the animal will return home not earlier than in a year. They are not interested in how the dog will survive all this time, where it will find food, how it will keep warm in winter. Probably, when they come home next summer, they will not even remember the former pet and will get another dog or cat, teach him and take care of him, buy him food, go for walks and pet him.
For three months of summer, this animal will be happy, and then its owners will gather in the city. The animal will think that it will go with them and its happy life will continue in a new place, but these dreams will not come true. In the city, the dog must be taken out for walks, cleaned up after him in the apartment, and people are not capable of such chores.
Packing things in the car, the hostess kissed the dog, because they were so close all summer, and then got into the car and did not appear again. At first, the puppy waited, strangers fed him, he wandered around, but always returned back to his house, believing that the mistress would return soon. Over time, he realized that people would not come for him, and also that if he did not want to die from cold and hunger, he needed to leave the empty yard and try to find new owners.
Next summer, a new puppy will appear in this yard. The hostess will love and take care of him, but only until it gets cold outside. Some people have forgotten that we have to answer for those we have tamed. Let’s fulfill the testament of Exupery together and make our world kinder.
