In order to build a nest, the duck chose a place near the castle, but as it turned out, this was a bad decision. Soon the duck laid eggs, and ducklings hatched from them. But the duck was able to stay with her children quite a bit, soon she was attacked by a fox, who chose the bird as her dinner.

Without waiting for their mother, the ducklings crawled out of the nest and began to wander around the meadow, not knowing what to do next.
It is in the meadow that the Labrador Fred and his owners will cover the chicks. People understood that such little chicks could not survive without a mother, but they did not understand how to help them. The decision for everyone was taken by Fred, who gathered the birds and led them along.

Fred became a real dad for ten ducklings. He is constantly next to the chicks, smoothes their feathers, warms them at night, and rolls on his back during the day.
More recently, Fred took his charges to the water and taught them how to swim. Around the castle there is a moat, in which swimming lessons were held. The dog seemed to understand that ducks definitely need to be able to swim, so he leads them to the moat every day and makes them practice.

The Labrador does not look like a duck at all, but this was not a problem for his wards, the ducklings perceive him as their parent, love and obey. ducklings are sitting on their backs, looking around with curiosity.

At the end of the day, Fred takes the kids to the kitchen, where he puts them in a basket, always counting whether everything is in place. When the kids are settled in the basket, the dog also climbs in there to warm his children at night.

In a couple of months, the ducks will learn to fly, while it is not known whether they will decide to stay with the people and Fred or fly away. It is quite possible that by that time a flock will appear in the vicinity, to which the birds will be able to join.
