The hosts brought a five-year-old Rottweiler to my reception. As it turned out, the dog has not been able to poop for five days. At first glance, I realized that the situation was quite serious and, among other things, the dog was in severe pain. She began to ask the owners to get an anamnesis.

As it turned out, the animal is taken out for a walk only once a day and this walk lasts no more than 15 minutes. When I was little, I wrote and pooped just on the floor, and as I got older, I learned to endure. After a while, the period began again when the dog was emptied on the floor, so the owners began to take him to be brought up to the trainer and the dog learned to endure until the walk. For some time everything was fine, but now the dog has stopped pooping completely, it seems to be trying, but nothing happens.

Do you give him bones? I asked the hosts.

“Of course, he loves them very much.

– Do you often give bones and what kind?

– Chicken and pork ribs. We love the ribs on the fire, but he gets the bones.

As soon as I began a rectal examination of the rectum, my finger immediately stumbled upon a stone formed from the remains of bones. The dog began to howl in pain. It’s hard for me to even imagine how the dog suffered every time this prickly stone moved.

I sent my dog for an x-ray. His results showed that 7 centimeters of the intestine is densely filled with bony spines. They cannot be removed just like that, the risks of ruptures and bleeding are very high, the help of a surgeon is needed.

Explained to the owners what to do after the operation. Walking at least 6 times a day, painkillers, a special diet, caring for the wound that will inevitably remain after the operation. After a walk, reduce to three, but not less than an hour each, after a couple of months, walks can be reduced to 30 minutes, but bones will have to be excluded from the animal’s diet forever.

Leaving the office, the owners of the dog looked at each other and began to discuss aloud that they simply did not need such a dog.
