The call came closer to night.
– You can help? Here, puppies crawl along the road, and their mother tries to collect them, but she just doesn’t succeed very well.
Svetlana and Vladimir, our volunteers, were not afraid to go to an unfamiliar place at night to help the kids. When they got there, there were indeed 7 puppies crawling along the road, and there was a mother dog nearby. It was clear that the puppies were here recently, because such a large family could not live by the road, remaining unnoticed.
Sveta and Vladimir gathered the puppies and took their mother to find them a secluded place.
The man on the phone spoke about 8 puppies, our volunteers found only 7 on the road. It was decided in the morning to go to this place again and look for the baby, because they could not find him in the light of flashlights.
In the morning the search continued, but the puppy was not on the road. Nearby there was a path that led to the dacha cooperative, it was decided to go there. Local residents said that they had not seen a puppy, but they recently got a stray dog. The car stopped at the dachas, the dog was thrown out of the opened door, and after that the car quickly left. The dog settled in an abandoned dacha and soon whelped.
The guys showed the locals a photo of the dog that they took off the road in the evening, the locals identified it. Volunteers went to check the abandoned cottage, suddenly the last puppy went there. When they entered the site, they heard a squeak that was heard from under the porch. There were still kids under the porch, but it was impossible to get them. The passage under the steps was so narrow that it was amazing how the mother dog could fit in there on her own. Volunteers dismantled the steps to get the kids. There were four puppies, they were only recently born.
Svetlana and Vladimir talked with the locals and, having compared all the facts, they realized that the dog they found was the mother of four kids from an abandoned dacha, and the puppies by the road were not hers. Most likely, the kids were thrown out by the road without their mother.
The dog, which recently became a mother, took pity on other people’s babies and decided to help them too.
After this trip, we immediately had 12 more wards, 11 of them are babies, and the twelfth is a selfless mother-dog.
We did not leave the kids in the forest or separate them, we took everyone, and now we will try to do everything possible so that the big family has a happy future.
