The owner decided to doom the dog to death, and the law cannot do anything about it.
The owner of an apartment in a multi-storey building decided to move. More than a month ago, the woman went to the Moscow region and stayed there, she decided not to take her dog away, simply locking her in the apartment. German Shepherd Sherry was left completely alone.
Fortunately, the owner of the animal forgot to close the door to the balcony, Natalya, who lives in a neighboring apartment, noticed the animal and drew attention to the fact that it was extremely thin. Since Natalia’s balcony adjoins the balcony of the apartment in which Sherry stayed, the woman began to feed the animal. Other neighbors also began to help Sherry, they also turned to the animal rights activists.
Unfortunately, the defenders cannot help the dog, because according to the law, neither the police nor the rescuers have the right to open the doors of the apartment in such a situation. Natalya managed to find the number of the landlady and contact her, but she did not want to look for any way out of the situation: “Sherri is my dog. I come and take care of her.” But according to Natalia, no one has appeared in the apartment for two months.
Such situations are not uncommon in our country. “Unfortunately, our compatriots often choose this way to get rid of their pets. They don’t want to euthanize a dog or cat because of the costs associated with the procedure, and besides, it’s not so easy to find a veterinarian who agrees to take the life of a healthy animal, ”says animal rights activist Victoria.
Neighbors feed Sherry, which means she won’t starve to death. As soon as it gets very cold outside, frost can be deadly for a dog. For now, Natalya and other neighbors hope that they will be able to find a legal way out of the situation before winter arrives. People turned to a lawyer who believes that there is a chance to bring the owner of the animal for cruel treatment. Most likely, the woman will only receive a fine, but perhaps the very prospect of a trial will force her to come and release Sherry, then the animal rights activists can take care of her.
