The dog ran around the yard, constantly turning its head and whining softly, trying to find its owner. As it turned out, the dog was not the first time on the street. The owners drove the animal out of the house so as not to get in the way when they had another feast with friends and a lot of alcohol.
The dog ran up to people, trying to get at least a little affection and attention from them. Neighbors looked at the animal with sympathy, sometimes stroked it and moved on. They knew both the animal well and the owners it so desperately sought.
One of the girls not only stroked, but also fed the dog. In a couple of minutes they became real friends. The girl and the dog were sitting at the entrance when the owner of the animal went out into the yard. The woman was in a dirty dressing gown, her face was swollen, and from uncertain movements it was immediately clear that she was drunk. The woman came out only to light a cigarette. The dog happily ran to the owner.
– Is this your dog? the girl asked.
– Mine, it’s over.
– Why is she running around in the yard herself, and even so dirty, hungry?
The girl tried to appeal to the conscience of her interlocutor. She told me that you can’t let a dog walk alone, it can get hit by a car, offend other animals or a person. In addition, the dog is young, after such a walk, puppies may appear. “Well, tomorrow I’ll sober up and if I want, then I’ll take it, but today I’m not up to it,” the woman said and throwing away her cigarette went into the entrance.
Left alone again, the dog immediately drooped and began to whine. The girl started stroking the animal again. There was no collar on the dog, no address tag either. The dog looked and smelled like a mongrel, was extremely thin and dirty, her teeth indicated that she was a little over 6 months old.
“Just be here, don’t go anywhere, I’ll pick you up soon,” the girl promised, looking into the sad eyes of the animal.
The girl really soon returned and took the dog. The animal did not show any resistance, probably realized that the owners did not need it. Already at home, the dog was thoroughly washed and treated for fleas, they gave plenty of food. Bathing for the animal has become a real test, probably, it has never been washed before. At first, the dog tried to escape and clattered its teeth, as if warning that the procedure was not at all to its liking, but soon calmed down and courageously withstood the treatment to the end.
