Seven years ago, the coast of South Carolina suffered from prolonged rains that led to flooding in some regions. The elements left about a million local residents homeless, they were forced to leave all their property and evacuate. Alex Scroggins and his family were also forced to leave. Alex was helping his mother and sister with packing the necessary things when he saw that a dog was left in one of the flooded houses. The man decided to help the unfortunate animal. Obviously, the owners of the dog had already left, and they left the animal alone in the house. The dog stood on the porch, which was already covered with water, and howled, asking for help. None of the neighbors involved in saving families and property paid attention to the dog, but Alex decided to help the animal.
When a stranger approached the dog, she became frightened and ran into the house, which was also filled with water. The man followed the animal into the building. Looking around, he saw the carrier and decided that the dog could hide in it. Intuition did not disappoint Alex. He took the carrier and carried the dog out of the flooded house.
It turned out that the owners of the house left two days ago, and the dog was simply abandoned in an empty house to the mercy of fate. Most likely, the animal was waiting for a sad fate – to drown if the water level rises, or to die of hunger.
Alex learned that the dog’s name is Lucky, which translates as Lucky. The man did not take Lucky to the shelter, but left it with him. Alex decided that the dog had already endured a lot in recent days and it would not be fair to doom him to suffering again. There was a possibility that after a while no one would take Lucky from the shelter and he would be euthanized. Alex couldn’t let that happen.
When Alex began the process of adopting Lucky, it became known that the owners abandoned him a few days before the dog was found. They did not want to take the pet back and clearly did not miss him.
