It was about 50 degrees below zero outside. The trappers who went to work were not shy about expressing their anger at the animals, which were completely defenseless before them. Catchers grabbed everyone they met on the way, and the townspeople only rejoiced, although many of those who were grabbed on the street today were at home yesterday and lived in the apartments of these same townspeople.
For Bella, this week turned out to be one of the most terrible in her life. She then watched how her friends were bullied, how they were grabbed and dragged somewhere, and they whimpered and cried, begging for help. Bella herself was frightened, the frost penetrated the thin dog to the bones, and her high growth did not allow her to slip away unnoticed from the trappers.
The dog hid under trucks for a week. As soon as the trappers appeared in their area, Bella huddled into a ball behind the big wheels and did not move, afraid even to breathe.
The dog could not normally find food for himself, so he was constantly hungry. She was practically exhausted and death was waiting for her at the moment. Bella decided to spend her last moments in peace, so she crawled into the car of a local resident, who did not completely close the door. Noticing an unusual passenger, the man was immediately confused, but when he realized that the animal was not aggressive and was barely breathing, he allowed Bella to stay in the cabin and warm up a little. While the dog was warming up, the man found my number, thinking that I was helping animals in Yakutsk. As it turned out, the man had seen Bella before, she began to appear in the yard a week ago, trying to hide from capture.
The man agreed to keep Bella at his place until I arrange transportation, though he said that he could only provide her with a booth in the yard. It was cold outside and it was clear that the exhausted dog would not survive a few more days of life on the street. I managed to find volunteers who took Bella and sheltered her while I was organizing a flight for her.
Ella needed a long treatment, in addition to exhaustion, she had diseases associated with prolonged hypothermia. At first she was in the hospital, but thanks to the help of doctors, volunteers and just caring people, Bella fully recovered.
