This story has several facets. On the one hand, it is about the callousness and indifference that people are capable of, and on the other, about help and care. It was raining outside, the pet store employees were in a hurry to open the doors for visitors, when just on the threshold of the store they saw a box from which 4 cats were looking at them.
There were two adult cats and a couple of babies in the box, the employees guessed that a whole family had been thrown to them. All the animals were thin, but they obviously used to live in the house, because the street scared them, and the wool was perfectly clean.
The cats huddled close to each other, trying to keep warm in the wet box, also fearful of the people who had gathered around them. Until quite recently, they had a house and owners, although, probably, not the best. Today they were sitting in a box in an unfamiliar place and did not know what would happen to them next. The store manager did not leave the cats in the rain, so soon the whole family warmed up indoors. The employees decided to shelter the cats for a couple of days, but since there was no special place for them, the animals were settled in an aviary just in the middle of the trading floor.
The cats turned out to be quiet and well-mannered, they did not cause any problems, although it was clear that they were very nervous. Adults gradually began to settle down, while not forgetting for a minute that their children need care and attention.
While the cat was feeding the babies, the cat father was washing them. The cat family was very sweet and tried not to cause problems to people, but not everyone around, unfortunately, was ready to respond in kind. Many buyers lingered at the cage with cats, trying to pet them. Some even began to perceive the store as a petting zoo.
Cats perceived such close attention from strangers very painfully, they were nervous and embarrassed, because even they had to go to the toilet under the gaze of strangers.
The store manager managed to quickly find new families for the kittens, but no one wanted to take care of their parents. The cat became very sad, sometimes he cries quietly, as if asking to be taken to a quiet and comfortable house, because he is very tired of extraneous attention. The cat became depressed and became apathetic towards everything around. They are both affectionate and kind, it is a pity that so far there has not been a person who will appreciate these qualities of theirs.
