Volunteers learned about a dog that sat on the track all day and looked into the windows of every passing car. The volunteers did not manage to find the place that the drivers and passengers were talking about right away, but even when they arrived at the place, the dog was not there. The volunteers walked along the road, lighting their way with a flashlight, and soon noticed the animal. The dog was very thin, it was clear that she was completely exhausted. She lay on the ground and did not react in any way to the approach of people. Tears were visible in the eyes of the animal, and two puppies lay nearby, who did not wait for help and departed to another world.
Our volunteers called to describe the situation, while the girls could not contain their emotions and tears during the conversation. It was clear. That a dog with puppies did not appear at the curb themselves, a man took them there, dooming both the kids and their mother to certain death.
The volunteers picked up the dog and were about to walk to the car when they heard a squeak coming from the hollow of a tree. Having looked there, the girls saw two more puppies, born no more than a couple of days ago.
Having taken the kids and their mother, the girls immediately took them to the veterinarian. In the car, the dog did not stop crying, as did our volunteers. I realized that the dog didn’t just approach the cars and tried to attract the attention of the drivers, he tried to call for help, because the puppies were dying very close by and their mother was crying, but people didn’t understand what he was trying to tell them.
All the way the girls stroked the dog and talked to her, begging her to be patient a little more, but it was clear that her strength was leaving her every minute. She simply did not have the strength to fight for her life.
Doctors immediately set about saving the dog, leaving her with the kids in the clinic all night. We believed to the last that the girl would survive, but, unfortunately, she did not survive the night … She really wanted to live, she wanted to help her kids, but she did not have enough strength, and help came too late.
We had to take care of the puppies, but we didn’t even know what to do, because at that age, without a mother, the kids had practically no chance of surviving. We were lucky, we found out that in humane capture the dog became a mother of 4 puppies and we were allowed to try to give her these babies too. We were very worried about whether the dog would accept other people’s children.
We took the kids to the trapping and introduced them to Jasmine, the new mother. The dog was immediately surprised, but kindness and maternal instinct overcame her doubts, and she began to feed the newcomers. Having eaten and warmed up near their mother, the kids fell asleep sweetly in a couple of minutes.
