In frost -20, a half-bald dog survived on the street

A small, furry black dog walked across the snow, carefully rearranging its too thin paws. Passers-by looked at the dirty dog with bald patches on the coat with disdain, trying to bypass it. It was not clear what happened to the animal’s fur, perhaps this is a consequence of the disease, or maybe someone’s cruel joke.

One girl did not pass by, but stopped and called the dog. The baby turned out to be very trusting and immediately approached the person. Polina, that’s the name of the girl, thought that the baby was lost, so she took a few photos and posted them in local groups on social networks. For several days, there was no response to the girl’s posts, which means that the dog was not accidentally on the street.
When I saw Polina’s post, I felt very sorry for the dog, which was clearly not adapted to life on the street, and even in cold weather. I called Polina, and she promised to call me if she saw the dog again. There was no news from Polina for a week, and then she called and said that the dog had reappeared in her area, although in recent days she began to look even worse.

We didn’t have a place for overexposure, except in an open-air cage on the street, but such conditions were clearly not suitable for the baby. I agreed with Polina that she would keep the dog for a while and take her to the veterinarian, while I would pay for the treatment and start looking for a place for the baby. The veterinarian did not find any serious health problems, which turned out to be great news. In the clinic, the dog warmed up and even began to smile at those around him, as if trying to thank them for saving him.

The doctor determined that the girl was only about two years old, and she also had her hair cut off, since it was not possible to get rid of the tangles in another way. It was not possible to establish the breed, but the baby looks like a cross between a terrier and a lap dog, possibly with some spaniel impurities.

Polina named her ward Cheburashka, she says that the baby is unusually smart and kind, loves people and is distinguished by good behavior both at home and on walks. Cheburashka is always waiting for a walk, she quickly got used to the leash, she is glad for attention and even minimal comfort, because for two weeks she has been living on a bedding in the corridor, since Polina cannot take her to her apartment.
