Winter raged, bringing down a blizzard on the city. A sick and weak cat tried to hide from the elements near a pizzeria. The cat tried to hide one eye from the wind, closing it with its paw, the other eye did not open at all. The employees of the pizzeria knew the cat, he came here often and even received the name Vasenka from them. Sometimes the animal managed to slip into a small corridor at the entrance to the room and bask there. Vaska sat quietly at the door and inhaled the aromas of food, because hunger was the feeling that accompanied him all his life. Sometimes employees of the pizzeria or visitors fed him.
Vasenka could sit in the corner of the corridor for hours, while he tried not to make a sound, and did not even try to beg for food, fearing that people would drive him out into the cold. The cat gladly accepted any treat and humbly went out the door, as soon as people told him about it, although, on the street, he was cold, and was also afraid of everything around.
Almost all the nights Vasenka wandered the streets of Kursk, trying to find a basement in which the air vents would be open, unfortunately, there were practically no such ones left in the city. Most often, Vaska’s attempts to find a warm place for the night ended in failure.
One of the visitors of the pizzeria took a picture of Vasenka and posted the photo on social networks. The pictures clearly showed that the animal needed help, but no one reacted to the post and did not want to take care of the unfortunate animal. This post was sent to me by a friend of mine. We didn’t have places at the overexposure, but Vasenka looked so sick and unhappy that my heart trembled and I decided to help him. I arrived at the pizzeria, but the cat was not there. According to the employees, the cat came every day at exactly 15.00, so I stayed to wait. Exactly at three o’clock Vaska really appeared at the door. Seeing the cat live, I realized that his condition is much worse than it seemed to me from the photo. It was amazing that the animal was still alive.
Vasenka was provided with the necessary assistance, they also took tests at the clinic for a more thorough diagnosis, after which we took him to the house that we rent for our wards. We hoped that warmth, good food and care would help Vasenka get better. After washing the cat was able to open the second eye, we were very happy about this, but the test results spoiled our mood. In the laboratory, a k.virus was found in the cat. Too many troubles immediately fell on the poor animal.
Over time, we found out that Vasenka had had health problems since birth, obviously, this is what led to the fact that the owners put him out the door. Vasenka’s appearance is also very specific, not like ordinary cats. Appearance, however, does not affect the character of the animal, it is kind and affectionate, sociable and non-conflict in relation to other animals. So far, Vasenka is happy that he has a warm place and food that he does not have to beg for.
