Galina told us about the cat. Who lives near the city. The woman said that the cat has been living on the street for a long time, he is always hungry and, most likely, does not see anything, because he is poorly oriented in space. During the conversation, I was surprised why Galina, having seen the cat several times, left him alone, and did not take him from the street. The woman admitted that she did not think about asking for help right away, and she simply cannot take the cat to her and take care of him. Galina’s next phrase just pissed me off:
– People often love him next to him, they take photos.
– Why?
— I don’t know, I saw how they take selfies with him. Recently, a mother and a child took pictures with him, and then immediately left.
I was horrified: the kitten was scared, hungry and confused, he went to people, hoping that they would help, and instead they just took a photo with him and left indifferently. In the conversation, Galina mentioned that several more homeless cats live nearby.
I immediately asked Galina to take this cat and those who live nearby to the veterinarian, promising that I would pay for the treatment. On the phone, the woman several times clarified whether it was enough to simply bring the cats to the veterinarian and whether they would definitely be accepted at the clinic, without forcing her to wait until the end of the examination and pay.
The next day, Galina and another girl went to the cat’s habitat. Finding a cat that used to be white, but now was a dirty ball of wool, was not a problem. Nearby, the women saw another cat, just as dirty and hungry, as well as another very sick one.
When the girls began to arrange the seals in a bag to take them to the doctor, a woman appeared next to them. The woman swore loudly and yelled at them to leave the animals alone, saying that they belonged to her and she would call the police. The woman took out her phone and began to take pictures of the girls, while she intimidated Galina so much that she was almost ready to leave the cats near the track so as not to “disturb their usual environment and not cause new stress in the animals.” Of course, Galina’s proposal was crazy, because in the “familiar environment” on the roadside, the life of animals would be very short.
Despite the indignation of the stranger, soon all three cats were at the veterinarian and received the necessary help. A white cat had eye problems that were not limited to loss of vision, a cat with obvious signs of a British breed was diagnosed with malnutrition and a number of diseases, and a third girl was found to have problems with her ears. Galina paid for part of the treatment, the rest, like special food, was paid for by us.
We were lucky to immediately find overexposure for all the cats. Lilia Pankratova, a well-known artist in our city, who takes care of more than fifty cats, took care of the two girls. The Brit who needed the most care and attention found a home with Anya, the girl who helped us on several occasions to get our animals to the clinic and to the foster home.
