Sasan Amir, a 27-year-old photographer and filmmaker from Germany, frequently explores the African savannah to capture stunning photographs and videos of the local wildlife.
Among the highlights of his portfolio are images of predators. During a recent trip to South Africa, something extraordinary unfolded before his eyes.
Setting himself up in an “ambush” position, Sasan patiently observed the savannah, hoping to capture remarkable shots. Suddenly, he noticed a wild cheetah quietly making its way toward him.
Initially startled, the photographer slowly stood up, signaling to the cheetah that he was aware of its presence and prepared to defend himself.
To Sasan’s surprise, the cheetah paused and deliberated for a moment before resuming its approach.
“It felt like the cheetah wanted to communicate. It even began to purr like a domestic cat,” Sasan recounted the experience.
It took Sasan a few minutes to fully comprehend the extraordinary encounter that had just unfolded before him.
How fortunate he was to have the opportunity to interact with a wild creature in such proximity! Remarkably, the cheetah remained completely relaxed and exhibited no signs of aggression.
It even proceeded to lick Sasan affectionately, expressing its fondness.
Thankfully, Sasan had his camera within reach, enabling him to capture unique shots of the interaction with the majestic predator.
On that unforgettable day, the cheetah even allowed itself to be stroked and hugged, granting Sasan a rare chance to connect with the untamed realm of wildlife without any repercussions to his life or well-being.
